Actions for the week of April 6
Whew! That was a phenomenal rally. And we’re not done. Tesla Takedown. More ways to fight back.
Editor’s Note:
Somewhat in the neighborhood of 5000 of our friends and neighbors arrived in downtown Santa Rosa on Saturday, April 5 to be part of a national movement, a national meeting with our country to state that we had objections to cancelling the constitution.
We aren’t done. There’s more to do — and we need each other to get it done. Here is a sampling of this week’s Rallies, Protests, Calls to Make, Meetings, and Actions you can take to change the direction of our country. More opportunities to get involved happen all the time — and we post them on our calendar. Stay current!
Saturday, April 19 11-1 is our next planned rally.
Look for the Mobilize link to sign up. Bring noise makers and walking shoes.
Sometimes They Listen
By Tom Benthin
I’m certain that everyone reading this knows that Cory Booker spoke for over 25 hours, breaking Strom Thurmond’s filibuster record, to disrupt the Senate and raise the alarm for Americans that our country is in mortal danger. What you probably don’t know is that Booker met the previous Friday with New Jersey Indivisible leaders, who told him that he wasn’t doing enough. We have no way to know if that meeting was decisive, but we do know that Booker used some of the points they made in their meeting in his hours-long speech. We may feel much of the time that our representatives are ignoring our calls for action. But, Booker’s speech shows us, sometimes they listen.
Let’s make some calls.
This Week: Defeat the Politician Protection Act
Background from our allies at ASO Communications and Fair Fight:
MAGA Republicans have introduced a bill to silence Americans based on what we look like, where we live, or what’s in our wallets. The Politician Protection Act (HR 22, what MAGA calls SAVE) is a direct assault on our freedom to vote — attempting to strip that fundamental right from anyone who can’t produce documents that millions of Americans don’t have, can’t afford, or struggle to access.
This authoritarian power grab seeks to gut registration methods that have long made voting safer, more accessible, and more equitable. And it would give the regime new tools to purge eligible voters from the rolls.
Make no mistake: This is a 21st-century poll tax designed to block people from having a say in the decisions that shape our lives. It’s also a deliberate effort to divide us — to pit Americans against each other along racial and economic lines while targeting working people, young voters, new Americans, married women who’ve changed their names, and Black and brown communities.
The Politician Protection Act would deny more than 21 million eligible Americans the freedom to make our voices heard and have a say over the decisions that impact our lives. We must defeat it.
CALL YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS: OPPOSE THE POLITICIAN PROTECTION ACT
Please call your Congressmember and say:
I’m calling to ask the Congressmember to oppose HR 22, which is designed by the MAGA regime to disenfranchise more than 21 million Americans.
CALL YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS: CALL FOR DONALD TRUMP’S IMPEACHMENT
Need we say why?
Please call your Congressmember and say:
I’m calling to ask the Congressmember to publicly call for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

CALL YOUR SENATORS: PLEASE BE MORE LIKE CORY
Every senator has the power that Cory Booker used to disrupt the Senate.
Please call your Senators and say:
I’m calling to ask the Senator to finally be more like Cory Booker and vigorously disrupt Senate business. Tens of thousands of us are taking to the streets to save our country. The senator can step up, too. I want to be able to be as proud of my senator as I was of Cory.

CALL YOUR STATE LEGISLATORS: DON’T BREAK THE SOLAR CONTRACT
Governor Newsom's CPUC has proposed to break the solar contracts, slash the solar credits, and slap with a solar tax all of the solar customers who signed up for solar before April 2023 (NEM1 and NEM2). Our best chance of stopping this proposal is to make it Dead On Arrival in the State Legislature.
Please call your state legislators and say:
Please oppose the CPUC’s proposal to break two million solar contracts.
The root cause of high rates is utility spending and profits, not rooftop solar. Rooftop solar saved all ratepayers $1.5 billion in 2024 by reducing utility spending. It is part of the solution.
Stop blaming consumers who are doing the right thing. Please get real about controlling utility spending, and don’t break the solar contract.

The onslaught of news, the chaos coming out of the White House – it’s all meant to overwhelm us. It’s a deliberate strategy to sow confusion and make us believe we are powerless to fight back. The antidote: Coming together in the community to process what’s happening, to sift through what’s important and what’s just noise, and coalesce around strategies for fighting back.
Join Indivisible co-founders Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin each week, as we carve out an hour to discuss what’s happening and – more importantly – what’s the plan.

Module 2: How to Hold Elected Officials Accountable
In this session, we will equip you with the tools to effectively contact elected officials and hold them accountable. You'll learn about the legislative branch and its two big purposes in our government. As a check on the other branches of government, you’ll learn why constituent pressure matters, how to tailor your approach based on a lawmaker’s stance, and the most effective methods of engagement—from office visits and town halls to calls, letters, and bird-dogging. You’ll gain confidence in making your voice heard through role-playing exercises and actionable strategies. By the end, you’ll be ready to take action and help build pressure to hold them accountable through activities like making calls or organizing a group to attend a town hall.
