Actions for the week of July 14
The current president and his evil minions keep trying to divide us, but we know the power of standing together. Stand up. Step up. Speak up. This week and every week.
Editor’s Note: I watched workers get kidnapped from their jobs this week. I watched a child handcuffed and her pockets searched, as if she carried contraband. She looked about 7. I saw a woman with white hair knocked down for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This was not in some other country. This was in mine.
Being non-violent, bearing witness, demanding justice, does not mean being passive. We must not be passive ever again.
Here is a sampling of this week’s Calls to Make, Meetings, Rallies, and Protests to put on your calendar, and Actions you can take to change the direction of our country. Nothing will change unless we change it.
More opportunities to get involved happen all the time — and we post them on our calendar.

Indivisible Sonoma County General Meeting
Mon, Jul 14, 2025 6:00pm - 7:15pm
We hope that you’ll join us on Monday, July 14th, for our July general meeting. We will welcome new members, talk about how Indivisible Sonoma county is growing, tell you about all of the actions planned for this week of “good trouble”, and ask for your input on strategy. We look forward to seeing you there!Calls to make this week (links go to our website)
Stop the Pathways Bill!
By Tom Benthin
There’s one critical bill this week that you should call about, right away. The “Pathways” bill, SB 540, will cede control of California’s power grid to a consortium of fossil-fuel dependent western states and open the door to our energy grid being controlled by the federal agency, FERC, that Trump controls. This would be a terrible blow to California’s move to clean energy. We won’t sugar-coat this: tech titans are backing the bill and Newsom wants their money for his presidential run. Stopping it is a long-shot. But we still have to try.
We have a couple of other calls for you to make, but, honestly, the best thing you can do this week is to show up at one or more of the “Good Trouble” protests and events happening this week. Hope to see you there!
Let’s make some calls!
STOP SB 540: DON’T GIVE TRUMP ACCESS TO OUR POWER GRID!
A truly awful bill, killed several years ago, is back. The Pathways bill, SB 540, would forfeit California’s autonomy over our power grid, opening it to control by other states and, most worryingly, Trump’s regime. It must be stopped.
[Note: anyone can call Speaker Rivas and Energy Chair Petrie-Norris, because they lead the Assembly/Committee]
Please call Speaker Rivas and say:
I am asking Speaker Rivas to stop SB 540 or, at minimum, to ensure that it is referred to the Assembly Judiciary Committee for a hearing on why this bill is so dangerous. It will hand Trump the keys to decimate California's clean energy future.
State Assembly Speaker Rivas
(916) 319-2029
Please call Energy Chair Petrie-Norris and say:
I am asking Assembly member Petrie-Norris, as Chair of the Energy Committee, to stop SB 540 the Pathways grid regionalization bill. Don't hand Trump the keys to decimate California's clean energy future!
If you are unable to stop it, please ensure the amendments Indivisible and others have sent to you are included to protect all Californians. Don’t let us be at the mercy of out-of-state coal interests. Protect us from Trump!
State Assembly Energy Chair Petrie-Norris
(916) 319-2073
[IF YOUR ASSEMBLY MEMBER IS CHRIS ROGERS:]
Please call Assembly member Rogers and say:
I am asking the Assembly member to stop SB 540, the Pathways grid regionalization bill. Don't hand Trump the keys to decimate California's clean energy future! If you are unable to stop it, please ensure the amendments Indivisible and others have sent to you are included to protect all Californians. Don’t let us be at the mercy of out-of-state coal interests. Protect us from Trump!
Assembly member Chris Rogers

CALL ADAM SCHIFF ABOUT HIS PHOTO OP WITH A WAR CRIMINAL
This past week Senator Schiff was one of seven Democrats posing for a photo op with visiting war criminal and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. If you are opposed to the deliberate genocide Netanyahu’s regime is inflicting on the civilian population of Gaza, a combination of starving them to death and shooting them on the rare occasion food is allowed through their blockade, you might want to give Schiff a piece of your mind. Here’s his number.
Senator Adam Schiff
DC phone: 202-224-3841
WHY AREN’T YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS SHOWING UP TO PROTEST ICE RAIDS?
You might want to call and ask them.
Call your US Senators and Representatives
IN CALIFORNIA
PASS SB 627, PREVENT LAW ENFORCEMENT FROM WEARING MASKS
The Assembly will vote on Tuesday, so please call right away!
Please call your Assembly member and say:
Please vote “yes” on SB 627, to prohibit law enforcement from wearing masks!
Assemblymember Chris Rogers
Santa Rosa phone: (707 576-2526
Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry
Sacramento phone: (916) 319-2004
Assemblymember Damon Connolly
Santa Rosa phone: (707) 576-2735
CALL SENATOR McGUIRE: DON’T BREAK THE SOLAR CONTRACT
Governor Newsom's CPUC has proposed to break the solar contracts, slash the solar credits, and slap with a solar tax all of the solar customers who signed up for solar before April 2023 (NEM1 and NEM2). The bill is now before the Senate Energy & Utilities Committee (on which McGuire sits). If McGuire is your state senator, please call his office and say:
Please vote NO on AB 942 as amended. It still breaks 2 million solar contracts and will harm consumers who did the right thing by investing in solar energy. Also, no amendment will make this bill right. The bill just needs to be defeated. Thank you.

THE LAST CLASS
The Last Class: Documentary Film about Robert Reich
Tue, Jul 15, 2025
4:30 & 7:00pm | US/Pacific
At the Rialto. Q&A with filmmakers to follow screening!
Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich might be famous for his public service, best-selling books, and viral social media posts, but he always considered teaching his true calling. The Last Class captures a master educator wrestling with the dual realities of his own aging and his students inheriting a world out of balance. Reich confronts the impending finality with unflinching candor, humor, introspection, and a rawness of emotion he has never shared publicly before. One thousand students fill the biggest lecture hall on the UC Berkeley campus—the last class to receive Reich’s wisdom and exhortations not to accept that society has to stay the way it is. His final assignment: Who will be the teachers of tomorrow?

Across the country, authoritarian forces are getting bolder and more dangerous. Trump and his allies are not hiding their agenda: mass deportations, rollbacks of civil rights, weaponized courts, and full-scale attacks on our democracy. We don’t have to wait until it’s too late. We can stop this. But it’ll take all of us. That’s why this summer, we’re launching
One Million Rising — a national effort to train one million people to help lead in this moment and gain the skills to lead others. This is how we build people power that can’t be ignored. You’re invited to join us—and lead.

What's the Plan? Weekly Conversation with Indivisible's co-founders
Thu, July 17, 2025
12:00pm - 1:00pm | US/Pacific
The onslaught of news, the chaos coming out of the White House – it’s all meant to overwhelm us. It’s a deliberate strategy to sow confusion and make us believe we are powerless to fight back.
The antidote: Coming together in community to process what’s happening, to sift through what’s important and what’s just noise, and coalesce around strategies for fighting back.
Join Indivisible co-founders Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin each week, as we carve out an hour to discuss what’s happening and – more importantly – what’s the plan.

VA Clinic Weekly Action
Fri, July 17, 2025 11:00am - 1:00pm | US/Pacific
Veterans Administration Clinic
Join and support the Veterans Administration Clinic weekly action. Meet at 11:00 at 2285 Challenger Way, Santa Rosa.
The VA Clinic doesn’t treat every veteran in the best of times, and these are not the best of times. Clinicians’ jobs have been eliminated. Benefits have been eliminated. President 2.0 would cut the care for veterans even further.
Those out there protesting for better care are grateful and surprised by the support from Indivisible. They thought we forgot that we are all in this together.
Let’s never let a moment pass when we forget that we are stronger together. And that together, we are Indivisible.

Protest Avelo Airlines' Deportation Flights - ONGOING
Sun, July 20, 2025
11:00am - 1:00pm | US/Pacific
Sonoma County Airport
Avelo Airlines has accepted a $150 million contract to operate deportation flights, aiding in the illegal removal of individuals without their right to a fair hearing or due process. This is not only inhumane but a direct violation of our Constitution.
We’re calling for a full boycott of Avelo Airlines and organizing weekly protests at our local airport.
We will be on the sidewalk leading to the Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport, which is currently a hub for Avelo's flights. At a time when a maximum number of travelers will see our protest, it is also a good opportunity to protest federal layoffs with the FAA.
You can park nearby or take SMART to get there. No parking on private property, please.
