Direct Actions
Free America from Tyranny
By Tom Benthin
It’s time for us to build this movement together. There is a role for each of us to play. Our task is to build a large, broad coalition of citizens who will confront and oppose fascism both through actions and in their daily lives. Here are some ways to get started now.
Attend a protest rally. Rallies are popping up all over - see our calendar and action listings to find the one(s) that’s a fit for you. Be peaceful, but be visible and loud. We need to let everyone know that we’re in danger, now - and we are here to fight back. Find the right rally for you below, and in our calendar.
Take the lead on forming neighborhood or cafe gatherings. Go local. Invite people in your immediate neighborhood to get together, get to know each other, and plan actions. Meet in your home (easier for confidential conversations) or at a cafe (more visible for drawing others to you). If you’re willing to lead, write to us here at Indivisiblesoco@gmail.com and tell us where you live. We’ll help put out the word that there’s a new group forming there.
Here’s the newest group:
Friday, May 23 8:30am
West S. R. Resistance Group
Come for coffee and discussion in the park across the street from Criminal Baking Co at 819 Donahue St, Santa Rosa. Join with some like-minded people for support and inspiration in the resistance to this administration. Be prepared to share two things that give you hope, one thing you’re concerned about, and an action item.

More actions coming soon. The pivot from constituent pressure to direct action is a big one for us. We’re moving as fast as we can, so expect new actions to pop up. If you have ideas for actions, write to us at Indivisiblesoco@gmail.com. And if you want to help lead actions, let us know!
Making Our Calls
Stop the Voter Suppression (aka “SAVE”) Act
5.11.25
The House has passed what Republicans call the “SAVE” Act, legislation that would cause over 21 million Americans to LOSE their vote by imposing voting requirements that they cannot reasonably meet, even though they are fully eligible to vote. The act does this by stripping away the right to vote from anyone who can’t produce documents that millions of Americans don’t have, can’t afford, or struggle to access.
Now the bill goes to the Senate, where it must be defeated. Senator Padilla has vowed to “lead the charge” to defeat the bill in the Senate. Democrats can do this by staying unified, since the filibuster will require a supermajority of votes for the legislation to pass. It will not be enough for either Padilla or Schiff to merely vote no. We also need them to pressure their colleagues to vote no as a unified block. No flinching, no defections.
UPDATE: As of May 9th, only 9 Democratic senators were on record in opposition to the “SAVE” Act (one was Padilla, but Schiff’s name is missing). This bill can be killed. It is critical to call now!
Let’s make some calls!
CALL YOUR SENATORS: OPPOSE THE VOTER SUPPRESSION (aka “SAVE”) ACT
Please call your Senators and say:
I’m calling to ask the Senator to lead the charge to defeat S. 128, the so-called “SAVE” Act, by not only voting no himself, but also by pressuring all of his Democratic colleagues to do the same. The caucus must stay unified and defeat S. 128, which is pure MAGA voter suppression.
CALL YOUR CONGRESSPERSONS: DEMAND DONALD TRUMP’S IMPEACHMENT
Trump is committing impeachable offenses every. Single. Day. Every Democrat should be on record, calling for his impeachment.
Please call your Congressperson and say:
I’m calling to ask if the Congressmemberhas publicly called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump. If not, what is he waiting for?
CALL YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS: WE NEED TO SEE YOU WITH US!
It is not enough for our members of Congress to vote “no”. Not enough to just hold town halls. We need to see them showing up in protest. With us.
Please call your Members of Congress and say:
I’m calling to ask the [Senator/Representative] to join us in the streets. We are marching. We are rallying. I’m tired of hearing politicians brag about standing on the Edmund Pettus bridge. I want to see the [Senator/Representative] by my side in this fight.
CALL YOUR SENATORS: OPPOSE THE ATTACK ON OUR COURTS
Please call your Senators and say:
I’m calling to demand that the Senator oppose the so-called No Rogue Rulings Act, and any other attempt to rewrite the federal court system. Impeaching judges and changing their constitutional authority just because Trump doesn’t like their rulings is grossly authoritarian and must be stopped.

CALL YOUR STATE LEGISLATORS: DON’T BREAK THE SOLAR CONTRACT
Governor Newsom's CPUC has proposed to break the solar contracts, slash the solar credits, and slap with a solar tax all of the solar customers who signed up for solar before April 2023 (NEM1 and NEM2). Our best chance of stopping this proposal is to make it Dead On Arrival in the State Legislature.
Please call your state legislators and say:
Please oppose the CPUC’s proposal to break two million solar contracts.
The root cause of high rates is utility spending and profits, not rooftop solar. Rooftop solar saved all ratepayers $1.5 billion in 2024 by reducing utility spending. It is part of the solution.
Stop blaming consumers who are doing the right thing. Please get real about controlling utility spending, and don’t break the solar contract.
CALL YOUR STATE SENATORS: DON’T GIVE TRUMP ACCESS TO OUR POWER GRID!
A truly awful bill, killed several years ago, is back. The Pathways bill, SB 540, would forfeit California’s autonomy over our power grid, opening it to control by other states and, most worryingly, Trump’s regime. It must be stopped.
Please call your state senators and say:
Please oppose SB 540, the Pathways bill. Do not sell us out by handing control of our energy grid over to Trump and his minions. Keep our energy future in our hands. Vote NO on SB 540.

Boycotts work. Here’s the most current information I could find on scheduled boycotts.
Walmart, the world's largest retailer, said in November that it was rolling back DEI policies, including no longer considering race and gender when making decisions about suppliers, ending various diversity programs, and removing the words "diversity" and "DEI" from documents in favor of language about "belonging."

What To Know
The initial boycott, which concluded on April 14, included all of Walmart's online and retail stores and services, and pharmacy and grocery pickup and delivery services. Club stores like Sam's Club are also being boycotted. All private-label brands affiliated with Walmart, like Great Value and Parent's Choice, are also part of the blackout.
The People's Union USA says it's nonpartisan and that its movement is "just getting started" and "not stopping anytime soon."
READ MORE Boycott
The "economic blackout tour" has dates listed until July 4, with some of the most well-known companies on Earth among those impacted:
Walmart Boycott 2 - May 20 to 26
Target Boycott - June 3 to 9
McDonald's Boycott - June 24 to 30
Independence Day Boycott – July 4
"It's simple: stop spending," The People's Action USA says on its website. "On blackout days, avoid shopping, streaming, online orders, fast food, and everything in between. If you absolutely need something, buy it from a small, local business.

Thu, May 15, 2025 12:00pm - 1:00pm | US/Pacific
The onslaught of news, the chaos coming out of the White House – it’s all meant to overwhelm us. It’s a deliberate strategy to sow confusion and make us believe we are powerless to fight back.
The antidote: Coming together in community to process what’s happening, to sift through what’s important and what’s just noise, and coalesce around strategies for fighting back.
Join Indivisible co-founders Leah Greenberg and Ezra Levin each week, as we carve out an hour to discuss what’s happening and – more importantly – what’s the plan.

Protest Avelo Airlines’ Plan to Carry Out Deportation Flights - ONGOING
Sun, May 18, 2025 11:00am - 2:00pm | US/Pacific
We will protest the decision by Avelo Airlines to assist with deportations by the Trump regime. The company’s hub in Arizona is poised to start these deportations in May. It’s time to send a message to travelers to stop giving Avelo their business and assisting this enterprise.
We will be on the sidewalk leading to the Charles M. Schultz, Sonoma County Airport, which is for now a hub for Avelo's flights. This is in the morning when a maximum number of travelers will see our protest.
It is also good opportunity to protest federal layoffs with the FAA.
