Actions for the week of May 19
Big events are in the planning stage. But we haven’t lost our momentum!
Editor’s Note:
Here is a sampling of this week’s Rallies, Protests, Calls to Make, Meetings to put on your calendar, and Actions you can take to change the direction of our country. Nothing will change unless we change it. More opportunities to get involved happen all the time — and we post them on our calendar.
Also - at the end of this newsletter is a list of all the June 14 events announced so far! If you don’t see one for your community, and you plan to host one there, let us know and we will help publicize it.
Note from the editor:
Because I get to read all your messages, I learn a lot about those who write to Indivisiblesoco@gmail.com. This week Georgette deBlois wrote with her innovative solution for holding virtual rallies and protests, asking that we put those protests on our calendar. We’’re going to do that, but I want to do more than that.
Here’s most of her email, so you can read her idea and possibly subscribe to her newsletter:
I am Georgette G. deBlois, one of the two administrators of the WITTicists, along with Randy Jones. Randy attends events In Person and Virtually. I’m an 88-year-old octogenarian who enjoys peaceful protesting online at the same time Rallies occur. I’ve hosted a few Virtual Protests, and it is the best way I can make my voice heard. Also, I am a monthly subscriber to the INDIVISIBLES.
The WITTicists are a few months old, with 10 members, some of whom are also active in a small writing group of 22 members.
Every week, we send our members a WITTicists weekly newsletter. On the first Tuesday of the month, we hold a once-a-month Virtual Meeting. In the Weekly News, “Events” is where we include excerpts from the most recent INDIVISIBLES Calendar.
About who we are, the following is our most recent email:
WITTicists A Political Forum
We're In This Together. Otherwise known as the “WITTicists,” it is a political forum for assisting each other by offering comfort, advice, encouragement, praise, an occasional WITTicism, and any other noun to help us get through the next four years.
We must remain united because we have politicians in power who spread lies and fear, and thrive on inciting chaos. We attend virtual and in-person rallies to break the yoke of disinformation-misinformation, and with peaceful, no-nonsense loud voices, declare allegiance to the Constitution and Protecting Our Democracy.
Write an email anytime, 24/7, or send a "Reply All" to our Weekly Newsletter. Vent your Concerns, Opinions, and Fears, and share some HUMOR to lighten a chaotic, political mood. Tell us about events you've attended or are happening in your area.
WITTicists Virtual Meetings. On the first Tuesday of each month, join us in Google Meet for our Virtual Forum anytime from 11 am to 12 pm and stay as long as you can. Our meetings are Not Open to the Public. Only WITTicists members are admitted and receive the URL in the Monthly Virtual Forum email. Membership is Free.
The Next Monthly Virtual Tuesday Meeting,Tuesday, June 3, 11 am - 12 pm Discussion begins at 11:10 am. Link to be admitted: tba
Questions or comments? Contact: Georgette deBlois at ggdebl2@gmail.com And/or Randy Jones at salranjones@comcast.net
Other volunteer-initiated groups have resulted in regular meetings, too. This week we’ve posted the West Santa Rosa Resisters meetings (see below). And the Junior College Neighborhood Indivisible group meets every other week.
If you are hosting community-building, action-oriented Indivisible groups in your neighborhood, or you want to, let us know. We will help you get the word out.
No Clowning Around:
Volunteers Needed to Make June 14 a Swell Time for All
Calling all Indivisible members, newsletter subscribers and those who may be interested. Indivisible Sonoma County is badly in need of additional members to assume Peace Keeping roles for safety and success of our large-scale protests. If you consider yourself even-tempered, good in an emergency and are interested, please review this (not so short) training video:
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuNvU4m2LXbzg4AElkz6Ny6vG-5pAn_Kd&si=mLss4hn7lNA5-Kgg
After you review the training, please contact Mark Jacqua at markjaqua@comcast.net. We will invite you to an in-person training and orientation, and add you to a list of people we will call on to make sure our protests are safe and successful. AND you get to wear a colorful vest!

Making Our Calls
CALL YOUR SENATORS:
OPPOSE THE VOTER SUPPRESSION (aka “SAVE”) ACT
Please call your Senators and say:
I’m calling to ask the Senator to lead the charge to defeat S. 128, the so-called “SAVE” Act, by not only voting no himself, but also by pressuring all of his Democratic colleagues to do the same. The caucus must stay unified and defeat S. 128, which is pure MAGA voter suppression.
Contacts for Your CA US Senators
CALL YOUR US REPRESENTATIVE:
DEMAND DONALD TRUMP’S IMPEACHMENT
Trump is committing impeachable offenses every. Single. Day. Every Democrat should be on record, calling for his impeachment.
Please call your Representative and say:
I’m calling to ask if the Representative has publicly called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump. If not, what is he waiting for?
Contacts for Your CA US Representatives
CALL YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS:
WE NEED TO SEE YOU WITH US!
It is not enough for our members of Congress to vote “no”. Not enough to just hold town halls. We need to see them showing up in protest. With us.
Please call your Members of Congress and say:
I’m calling to ask the [Senator/Representative] to join us in the streets. We are marching. We are rallying. I’m tired of hearing politicians brag about standing on the Edmund Pettus bridge. I want to see the [Senator/Representative] by my side in this fight.
Contacts for Your CA US Senators & Representatives
CALL YOUR SENATORS:
OPPOSE THE ATTACK ON OUR COURTS
Please call your Senators and say:
I’m calling to demand that the Senator oppose the so-called No Rogue Rulings Act, and any other attempt to rewrite the federal court system. Impeaching judges and changing their constitutional authority just because Trump doesn’t like their rulings is grossly authoritarian and must be stopped.

CALL YOUR STATE LEGISLATORS:
DON’T BREAK THE SOLAR CONTRACT
Governor Newsom’s CPUC has proposed to break the solar contracts, slash the solar credits, and slap with a solar tax all of the solar customers who signed up for solar before April 2023 (NEM1 and NEM2). Our best chance of stopping this proposal is to make it Dead On Arrival in the State Legislature.
Please call your State Legislators and say:
Please oppose the CPUC’s proposal to break two million solar contracts.
The root cause of high rates is utility spending and profits, not rooftop solar. Rooftop solar saved all ratepayers $1.5 billion in 2024 by reducing utility spending. It is part of the solution.
Stop blaming consumers who are doing the right thing. Please get real about controlling utility spending, and don’t break the solar contract.
Contacts for CA State Senators & Assemblymembers
Make This Call on Monday:
Ask these senators on Approps to please OPPOSE SB 540:
The Senate Judiciary Committee ignored the warnings of its own analyst and passed this dangerous bill, which would deliver California into a Western regionalization grid. Now the bill will be heard in Appropriations on Monday, May 19.
There’s been no financial analysis done (!) to compare the outcome of spending $300 million on grid regionalization to what that same investment in California wind and solar would bring to the state.
Costs to ratepayers will go UP.
CA ratepayers would pay for extending the life of coal plants (!) in other states.
One of the biggest costs is our giving up our independent decision-making and climate policy. Our policy would be undermined by becoming subject to approval by FERC, now a highly Trumpified regulatory body.
350 BAA’s 1-page summary of SB 540 is here.
For a readable deep dive, see “A Potential Trump Power Grab, Brought to you by Democrats—Big Tech-backed Democrats could hand one of the country’s largest and greenest energy markets to Trump and his fossil fuel acolytes.”
Thanks to Laura Neish of 350 BAA for sounding the alarm. Please make those calls!

VA Clinic Weekly Action

Veterans Administration Clinic
Join and support the Veterans Administration Clinic weekly action. Meet at 11:00 at 2285 Challenger Way, Santa Rosa.
The VA Clinic doesn’t treat every veteran in the best of times, and these are not the best of times. Clinicians’ jobs have been eliminated. Benefits have been eliminated. President 2.0 would cut the care for veterans even further.
Those out there protesting for better care are grateful and surprised by the support from Indivisible. They thought we forgot that we are all in this together.
Let’s never let a moment pass when we forget that we are stronger together. And that together, we are Indivisible.

Protest Avelo Airlines’ Plan to Carry Out Deportation Flights - ONGOING
Sun, May 25, 2025 11:00am - 2:00pm | US/Pacific
We will protest the decision by Avelo Airlines to assist with deportations by the Trump regime. The company’s hub in Arizona is poised to start these deportations in May. It’s time to send a message to travelers to stop giving Avelo their business and assisting this enterprise.
We will be on the sidewalk leading to the Charles M. Schultz, Sonoma County Airport, which is for now a hub for Avelo's flights. This is in the morning when a maximum number of travelers will see our protest.
It is also good opportunity to protest federal layoffs with the FAA.

Phone Banks into CA Congressional District 22 - Valadao
Thu, May 22, 2025 1:30pm - 3:15pm | US/Pacific
Location: Democratic Party Headquarters
Here is an opportunity to make a difference toward flipping CA Congressional District 22 from red to BLUE in 2026 by making phone calls now. 67% of the population in CD 22 have health care because of Medicaid (known as Medi-Cal in California). If the U.S. budget passes at the end of May, it will cut $880 billion in Medicaid funding throughout the U.S. Think of the impact that will have on the people in this one CA district.
There will be in-person phone banks calling Valadao’s constituents during the month of May on Thursdays. All information can be found by clicking on the Sign Up link. If you would prefer to call from home on other days and times, email Janet Reynolds at hqvolunteer@sonomademocrats.org.
