Planning your Weekend
What to do when the Sun isn’t calling in Northern California (and even when it is!)
This week my email has been filled with questions.
“When is the next march?”
“What are you planning next?”
There’s a lot in the works for next week, but today and tomorrow are full, too!
As a reminder, we send out our Actions newsletter on Sunday most weeks and encourage you to regularly check our calendar. It’s a great, regional calendar!

Protest Avelo Airlines’ Plan to Carry Out Deportation Flights
Sat, Apr 26, 2025 9:00am - 11:00am | US/Pacific
Sonoma County Airport
We will protest the decision by Avelo Airlines to assist with deportations by the Trump regime. The company’s hub in Arizona is poised to start these deportations in May. It’s time to send a message to travelers to stop giving Avelo their business and assisting this enterprise.
We will be on the sidewalk leading to the Charles M. Schultz, Sonoma County Airport, which is for now a hub for Avelo's flights. This is in the morning when a maximum number of travelers will see our protest.
It is also good opportunity to protest federal layoffs with the FAA.

Tesla Takedown - Santa Rosa
Sat, Apr 26, 2025 11:00am - 1:00pm | US/Pacific
Tesla Showroom
You are invited to join a sign-waving event this weekend on the sidewalk outside the Tesla showroom in Santa Rosa. 3286 Airway Drive, Santa Rosa, CA, 95403.
What to bring: Signs to wave!
Please stay on the sidewalk and do not block entrances. Do not engage with counter-protests.
This is a volunteer-organized visibility event to protest Musk.
Actions targeting Musk-owned businesses are designed as accountability actions against Musk in his DOGE role as a political actor and are not framed around any intent to cause economic harm to any business interest.

Sister District Sonoma West Bridge Walk
Sun, Apr 27, 2025 10:00am | US/Pacific
Join us for our last State Bridges fundraising for 2025!
Supporting the New Virginia Majority Education Fund Bridges Partner!
We’ll gather at the Guerneville Plaza side of the pedestrian Historic truss bridge with our Sister District banner and walk across the bridge and back.
The State Bridges Program activates Sister District volunteers across the country to fundraise for organizations leading year-round power-building work in critical swing states.
The New Virginia Majority Education Fund builds power in working-class communities of color across the Commonwealth. They organize in communities year-round for racial, economic, and environmental justice through political education, mass-scale voter outreach, mobilization, and leadership development.
A couple of additional ideas for the weekend.
While you are out and about, stop by your local (!) bookstore and buy something. Not a big-chain bookstore, a local one. This is a great weekend to buy local, and specifically to buy from local bookstores. It’s also the weekend Amazon has chosen to put books on sale … because Amazon. So go in, shop around, buy something, snap a photo of your brilliant purchase, and post it on Social Media as a not-Amazon purchase!
Also, as long as you are not-buying from big stores, take a little time to stop by your local Target. Target sales have dropped 11% overall, they tell us. I hear the aisles are also empty of people. If you stop in, snap a photo of those aisles with no one in them — and then leave. Post that photo on Social Media to show the power of not-shopping!
I hate to reduce our power to our purse.
But sometimes, that’s all we have to get the ears of oligarchs. If there are places you are not-shopping, and you think a photo will help (Tesla value has dropped 71%, so feel free to snap photos of you peacefully protesting!) share those photos and ideas here.
